In an effort to compete with Apple's GarageBand, Microsoft has developed SongSmith. Users can record their voice and the software will generate background music and rhythm as it sees appropriate. Appropriate doesn't necessarily mean good, as people use the actual vocal tracks from songs such as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "White Wedding," input it into SongSmith and get drastic results.
